Charging home late to secure a maiden Group 1 victory last time out, trainer Darren Weir has confirmed Trust In A Gust in the final field for the 2014 Toorak Handicap.

Securing a commendable record of nine wins and five minor places from just 16 competitive starts so far, Trust In A Gust won the Jeep Don’t Hold Back BM90 (1200m) first-up before finishing a close second in the Listed Drummond Golf Stakes (1200m) on September 6th.

Returning to the winner’s circle in the Le Pine Funerals Handicap (1400m) on September 20th, the Keep The Faith entire displayed a keen turn of foot in the final straight at Caulfield last time out to win the featured Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m), in what amazing figured as his first appearance at Group level.

Allocated the wide and somewhat awkward barrier 11, Weir is confident veteran jockey Brad Rawiller will get the best from his entrant in the 2014 Toorak Handicap.

Confirmed for her first Group 1 appearance since taking out the 2012 edition of the Thousand Guineas (1600m), Commanding Jewel will be partnered by Corey Brown in the 2014 Toorak Handicap and has been charged with overcoming barrier 10.

Finishing outside the places just once in ten competitive starts so far, Commanding Jewel stamped her claims as a serious contender from her maiden preparation; winning two minors before finishing second in the Group 3 Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m) and third in the Group 2 Edward Manifold Stakes (1610m) prior to her Thousand Guineas triumph.

Appearing on track for another memorable campaign through the 2013 Spring Carnival before suffering a string of unfortunate training injuries, the Commands mare has returned to the track in slick form this time in; finishing third in the Group 3 Cockram Stakes (1200m) first-up before returning to the winner’s circle in the Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes (1400m) on September 13th; running on for third in the Group 2 Stocks Stakes (1600m) last time out.

Finding particularly good form since transferring to the care of Chris Waller at the beginning of the season, Bull Point is yet to break through for a maiden victory at the highest level of Australian racing, but is offered an excellent opportunity from barrier 2 in the Toorak Handicap.

Securing three wins and six minors from his 13 starts, Bull Point ran on from the rear of the field to finish a credible third in the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) to conclude his maiden racing preparation in 2013, and while winning the Group 3 Manfred Stakes (1200m) first-up and finishing fourth in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m), returned to the paddock following two disappointing appearances in the Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) and Group 3 Sebring Stakes (1200m).

Finishing third in the Group 3 Show County Quality (1200m) and second in the Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes (1400m) before running on for third in the Sir Rupert Clarke most recently, Waller is confident veteran jockey Jim Cassidy will again get the best from his entrant in the 2014 Toorak Handicap.
