2010 Toorak Handicap Early Race Preview

September 6th, 2010

The 2010 Toorak Handicap is scheduled to take place on Saturday October 9 at Melbourne’s scenic Caulfield Racecourse as part of the action of Caulfield Guineas Day.

Caulfield Guineas Day kicks off the three-day Caulfield Cup Carnival and features an elite line-up of races headlined by three Group 1 events.

Aside from the $350,000 Group 1 Toorak Handicap (1600m) the other two major drawcards on the day that will have the best horse racing odds are the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) and the Group 1 Yalumba Stakes (2000m).

The Caulfield Cup Carnival continues with a midweek meeting on Wednesday October 13 featuring the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) before coming to a close the following Saturday with a bumper day of racing that includes one of the premier spring features, the Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m).

The 2010 Toorak Handicap will be sponsored by David Jones and nominations for the race are due to close on October 4.

After being the first to publish the list of Toorak Handicap entries, we will also put the Toorak Handicap final field live when acceptances are released on October 6, so bookmark this site.

Horses heading towards a run in the Toorak Handicap this year include Peter Moody’s recent Group 3 Bobbie Lewis Quality winner Doubtful Jack, six-year-old Snapy Halo, improving gelding Brilliant Light and Queensland Guineas winner Rothesay.
